Setting/Delivery Mechanism
Employer - To get the most impact from making these policy changes,
Children’s Colorado will also ensure that they are widely publicized both
within the hospital and in the broader employer community. Changes should
be announced through multiple mediums including employee newsletters,
emails from the CEO, press releases and participation in employer forums such
as those hosted by the Mountain State Employer’s Council and the Denver
Business Journal. Because part of the purpose of the policy review is also to
position Children’s Colorado as an advocate for broader policy changes, the
hospital may also want to brief targeted state and national legislators once the
new policies are enacted.
Additionally, Children’s Colorado will also have to work with its largest suppliers of
contract workers to extend benefits to those employees. Once a model set of policies
has been adopted internally, Children’s Colorado should begin to include extension
of those policies in its negotiations with vendors, recognizing that those policies may
also come with a cost.
