GOODBYE MR. CHIPS – 1939 Film Review

By Devilish Vikki

This is a great film, again from my best year in Hollywood's motion picture history 1939. I adore this film, directed by Sam Wood Goodbye Mr. Chips spans a whole man’s life. A young Charles Chipping played by (Robert Donat) when he first arrives at the school and makes rookie mistakes...over time Mr. Chips becomes a stern but fair teacher. While on holiday (love that word sounds way better then vacation.) Mr. Chips mountain climbing, has a surprise encounter with Kathy Ellis played by Greer Garson (one of the most beautiful ladies ever on screen). She was on a biking holiday. Kathy & Chips meet again and love follows.

They were very happy until she passes away during child birth. Chips was never the same after that.

Chips just worked on till time goes on and he expires himself. I myself give this film 3 out of 5 stars due to the fact I do feel in some places it seemed to drag on. But I still love it. Watch it every chance I get!!!
