Systems of Care

The ability to see a mental health care provider , collaborate with educators , or connect with family support organizations can make a tremendous difference for youth who experience mental or substance use disorders and their caregivers .
The Awareness Day 2016 national event highlighted the importance of increasing access to community-based children ’ s behavioral health services and supports . The observance explored strategies for overcoming barriers to behavioral health care access , including the many systems of care that are addressing the needs of children , youth , and young adults in communities , states , tribes , and territories .
Systems of care represent an effective and cost-efficient strategy for transforming children ’ s mental health care by bringing together all the people involved in a child ’ s life to help provide the best possible care and best outcomes .
