Twelve PBC Track & Field Athletes Selected for NCAA Championships NDIANAPOLIS, IND – Twelve Peach Belt Conference men’s and women’s track & field athletes were chosen to compete for national championships as the NCAA released the qualifiers for the champi- onships. The NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held May 25-27 in Bradenton, Fla., at the IMG Academy. The University of Tampa will serve as host. The lone women representing the PBC will be NSU’s Shakira Bartley and Sherrelle Jordan. Bartley had the only NCAA automatic qualifying mark in the PBC with her leap of 12.73m in the triple jump at the Seminole Twilight. Jordan makes her third straight trip to the NCAAs. The two-time All-American had the fastest 110 hurdles time in the PBC at 13.62, sixth-fastest in the nation this season. In the men’s 1500 Meter Run 110 hurdles, Nova Southeastern’s Rohan Mullings and UNC Pem- Cheyenne Thompson, UM Anna Leinheiser, UM broke’s Christian Ceccato competed while Nova’s Sherrelle Jordan ran Brittany Truitt, UNG the 100 hurdles for the women. Unfortunately, none of the compet- ing PBC athletes will advance to the finals. 5000 Meter Run In the 100m hurdles, Jordan posted a time of 13.85s in the second Katie Nelson, UM heat of the competition. Due to a fast race in the third heat, Jordan Cheyenne Thompson, UM Lea Tardanico, UNCP was unable to qualify for the finals tomorrow. The senior ends her collegiate career as a two-time All-American, Peach Belt Conference 10000 Meter Run Champion and the school record holder in the event. Katie Nelson, UM Saturday’s final day of competition at the NCAA will bring three Lea Tardanico, UNCP more events for PBC athletes. NCAA Track & Field – Day Three 100 Hurdles Sherrelle Jordan, Nova Shakira Bartley, Nova Hunter Chavarry, UM BRADENTON, FLA – The PBC crowned two more All-Americans as the 400 Hurdles 2017 NCAA Track & Field national championships came to a close on Shakira Bartley, Nova Saturday. Nova Southeastern’s Sharkira Bartley finished third in the Heather Hammett, Aug. triple jump. The PBC finishes the event with three All-Americans. Maia Carter, FIT Bartley put the icing on the cake of a spectacular campaign as the 3000 Steeplechase West Palm Beach, Fla. native received an All-American status with a Cheyenne Thompson, UM third-place finish in the triple jump with a life-time best 12.93m. The Natalie Shoemaker, UM jump also breaks her institution record as well as her all-time Peach Sarah Buckler, UNG Belt Conference record. With the third place finish, Bartley joins fellow senior Sherrelle Jordan and the 2011 women’s 4x100m relay as the highest finish at the National Championship.
