UNC Pembroke Wins Men’s Track & Field Champion-
ship
MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Dillan Perry (shot put) and Silus Kipkoech
(5,000-meter run) each picked up event titles and the UNC Pembroke
men’s track & field team held off Nova Southeastern to capture its
first Peach Belt Conference title in program history on Saturday
afternoon.
Head coach Peter Ormsby picked up PBC Men’s Track & Field Coach
of the Year laurels for the second time in three years, while Kipkoech
was decorated with both PBC Men’s Track Athlete of the Year and PBC
Men’s Freshman Track Athlete of the Year recognition. Jeanna Cube
was decorated with PBC Women’s Field Athlete of the Year honors,
while Kelsi Sheldon was named the PBC’s Women’s Freshman Field
Athlete of the Year.
Michael Zimmerman and Catherine George were named to the
league’s All-Sportsmanship Team.
Eight more student-athletes picked up all-conference recognition
on the final day of competition. The Black & Gold combined to win
eight event titles over the weekend and log 26 all-PBC honors.
Nova Southeastern finished in second with 164 points while
Florida Tech was third at 141.5
The 2017 championship was one for the record books as the
following PBC meet records were broken:
100m Dash – Eric Moate, UNC Pembroke, 10.44

110 Hurdles – Rohan Mullings, Nova Southeastern, 14.32
3,000 m Steeplechase – Donny Barnes, Montevallo, 9:04.42
4x100 Relay – Columbus State (Xavier Matthews, Jalen Tolbert, Nake

Long Jump – Ondrej Rapp, Florida Tech, 7.50m

Twelve PBC Track & Field Athletes Selected for
NCAA Championships
INDIANAPOLIS, IND – Twelve Peach Belt Conference men’s and
women’s track & field athletes were chosen to compete for national
championships as the NCAA released the qualifiers for the cham-
pionships. The NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships will
be held May 25-27 in Bradenton, Fla., at the IMG Academy. The
