Amy Wood is a weeknight anchor for WSPA 7 News in Spartanburg , S . C . Named the 2016 South Carolina Broadcaster ’ s Association Anchor of the Year , she has also won the Associated Press Award for series reporting and the Distinguished Community Service Award from the South Carolina Jaycees .
Augusta ’ s Sherrill , Montevallo ’ s Douglas Receive All-America Laurels

Augusta University ’ s Keshun Sherrill and Montevallo ’ s Javonte Douglas were named All-Americans as the National Basketball Coaches Association ( NABC ) and the Division II Conference Commissioners Association ( D2CCA ) released their teams . Sherrill was named an All-American by both organizations while Douglas received honors from the D2CCA .
For Sherrill , the All-American accolades are the fourth of his historic career in Augusta .
The 5-9 senior guard from Cleveland , N . C ., was named NABC first-team All-District , the NCAA Southeast Region Player of the Year and the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year . He owns the all-time scoring title in conference history with 2,333 points – breaking former Jaguar Ben Madgen ’ s previously held record of 2,306 points .
Sherrill was also first team All-PBC this season and was named the PBC Player of the Week three times in 2016-17 . He averaged 22.6 points on the year and started all 32 games . He led the Peach Belt in points , field goals , free throws , and minutes played and was second in points per game and three pointers . He finishes third amongst active 2017 Division II players for the most career points .
Douglas was also named a first team NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region selection by the D2CCA .
The 6-foot-8 forward from Charlotte , North Carolina was on the top 50 watch list for the Bevo Francis Award recognizing the top small college basketball player in the nation . Douglas was also named a first team All-Peach Belt Conference selection .
Douglas , a four-time Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week selection , led the conference in three separate statistical categories this season .
Douglas averaged a conference-high 24.2 points per game and a conference-best 11.3 rebounds per game to go along with a conference-leading 46.5 percent ( 40-of-86 ) shooting from beyond the arc .
Douglas is the only player nationally in NCAA Division II to be ranked in the top 10 in both scoring and rebounding . Douglas finished in double figures in scoring in every game he played in and posted a conference-leading 14 double-doubles this season .
Douglas scored a career-high 34 points against Lane College and grabbed a career-best 20 rebounds against Lander University during his senior season .
Augusta University Retires Keshun Sherrill ’ s No . 10 Jersey
AUGUSTA , Ga . – After one of the greatest careers in an Augusta Jaguars uniform , men ’ s basketball senior Keshun Sherrill had his No . 10 jersey retired by Augusta University at the Athletics Awards Banquet on May 2 , 2017 . Sherrill becomes the fourth Augusta men ’ s basketball player to have his number retired and raised in the rafters at Christenberry Fieldhouse .
The other men ’ s hoops stars who have their jerseys retired are Ben Madgen ( No . 1 ), A . J . Bowman ( No . 23 ), and Keenan Mann ( No . 32 ).
“ It is with great pleasure that we are honoring Keshun Sherrill with the retirement of his jersey ,” Director of Athletics Clint Bryant said . “ He exemplifies all that is good about the student-athlete experience . He joins a list of outstanding athletes at Augusta University that has had this honor bestowed on them for their tremendous athletic accomplishments and attainment of a graduation degree .”
