GRADUATE AND CAREER EXPLORATION INDIANAPOLIS 2015 SETTING LONG TERM GOALS CITY CULTURE Part of being successful in college stems from setting longterm goals. By beginning with the end in mind, it becomes easier to make decisions that move you along your desired path. For many of our students, this includes applying for and being admitted into graduate school. In order to explore the graduate school application process, TRiO SSS spent a day on Butler’s campus. Friday night’s dinner took place at TGI Friday’s and students were able to explore the city after dinner. Dinner Saturday night was at the Old Spaghetti Factory; the meal included pasta, fresh baked bread and traditional gelato. Afterwards, TRiO SSS participants were free to explore the area and take advantage of the cultural opportunities that the greater Indianapolis metropolitan area has to offer. They were also given the opportunity to sit court-side at an Indiana Pacers basketball game if they chose that as their after dinner activity. EDUCATION CONNECTION Leaving early Friday morning, students rode a bus from the Allendale campus to Butler’s historical campus just outside of downtown Indianapolis. Once there, student s participated in an interactive discussion panel and a walking campus tour. Representatives were on hand to explain the application process and what a day in the life of a graduate student is like. This first-hand experience helped TRiO SSS participant ́չ
