The University of Nebraska was chartered by the Nebraska Legislature in 1869 as the state’s public university and land-grant institution. Founded in Lincoln, the University
of Nebraska was expanded in 1968 into a state educational system now comprising four campuses under the guidance of a Board of Regents and a central administration.
