A Cry of An Orphan
An Orphan from South Korea
A few days ago, a lady in
her mid 60’s with a tiny
body came into the office
and shared with us her
testimony in tears. This
was her testimony:
Our Mission Center has
had some complications
as we tried to follow the
leadership of the Holy
Spirit in making a decision
to help an orphanage.
“I became a war orphan
right after the Korean
War. I cannot remember
anything because I was too
young.
We especially we had
many concerns as we
heard about the negative
reports within the Korean
orphanages that were
established by U.S.A. after
the Korean war.
As I watched many
kids admitted into the
orphanage because they
were wandering in the
streets without parents, I
assumed that I probably
was like them. The life at
the orphanage was hungry,
lonely, and hard. I never
had enough food to satisfy
my empty stomach.
Furthermore, compared to
the amount of food I ate,
there was so much work
to do like cleaning, laundry, and field work. My wish
was to eat enough and sleep in late without working
for once.
When we sent our pictures to the United States,
Americans sent many resources. However, only the
children of the orphanage director went to a prestige
school and lived in the nice home. Nothing was
passed onto us.
“A father to the fatherless, a defender of
widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God
sets the lonely in families, he leads out the
prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in
a sun-scorched land”
(Psalms 68:5-6)
I wondered about where all the materials went and
later I found out that the Director had sold all the
materials and spent all the money for his own family.
But, if I wasn’t able to live in that orphanage in those
times, would I be here right now?” She had a bitter
smile by the end of her testimony.
Thus, we sometimes had
to request for thorough
reports, sending a person
to confirm, and even
asking questions to the
children to find out the
reality. However, one day
the Lord brought us to the
realization that taking care
of the orphans was not
the mission center’s task
but God Himself ’s.
Also God made us to understand that everyone
including our mission center, the director of the
orphanage, all the workers at the orphanage,
and every sponsor is with a merciful heart and is
partnering with Father God’s work.
Since then, our focus has beccme building up the
alter of prayers.” “Let our hearts become like God’s
heart toward the orphans! It is solely by God’s mercy
that I can be in this place.”
Just as this lady’s confession, our God is restlessly
looking for the ones who are orphaned physically
and even spiritually to become a father to them.
Wouldn’t you like
to jump in and be a
partner of the faithful
love of God today?
