A ten-year, $52 million public-private partnership
with the City Fields Foundation culminated with the
highly anticipated opening of the new Beach Chalet
Athletic Fields in Golden Gate Park.
The complex has been renovated with synthetic turf
and lights, tripling the amount of playtime on the
fields to more than 14,000 hours annually and dramatically increasing public access. The four synthetic
turf fields accommodate a wide range of sports and
save about six million gallons of water each year.
New facility amenities encourage a safe, familyfriendly environment for park visitors.
In total, our partnership with the City Fields
Foundation has resulted in:
+21 field renovations at nine facilities
+90,000 hours of additional play time on city fields
each year
+200 new youth sports teams
+2,400 kids each year playing ball on our fields
+85 new girls soccer teams
+25 million gallons of water saved each year
+Maintenance needs down by 75%
