What is the St. Francis Neighborhood Center?
St. Francis Neighborhood Center is committed to breaking the
cycles of poverty through education, inspiring self‐esteem, self‐
improvement, and strengthening connections to the community.
My experience at the Saint Francis Center has been a great
opportunity to experience the world of teaching. As I approach
my senior year, I am trying to discover what the next step will be
after graduation. Having the opportunity to work with the
children and staff and the center has been invaluable experience
that I will cherish as I begin my professional career. The
challenges that come with controlling a group of young kids
includes getting on their level and developing a mutual respect.
Children possess a spontaneous nature that makes no two days
alike and that was the most rewarding thing about working at
Saint Francis. I witnessed the compassion and determination of
every child at some point and it was humbling to realize my
impact on their lives.
