Being matched with my site seemed like a match made in heaven to put it simply. Before my first day, I had high
expectations and as I reflect on it now, the experience I ended up having surpassed them immensely. The
responsibilities I was given truly tested me all around, from working more closely with kids, community outreach,
partnering, planning and organizing events, and so much more. I was really nervous in the beginning but the
workspace and the people I work with are incredible. I was not referred to as the intern and more so looked as an
important asset. I've learned many things, but the most important in that it’s essential to work with others to
complete a big goal. I saw that many times and not only that, but the maintenance and importance of relationship
building was seen all throughout. More importantly in my eyes, I was first hand able to experience what I wanted
which was working on the ground. Meaning I was actually able to work directly with community and reflect on their
needs and how I want to play a future role in that. Subsequently, it strengthened my future goals and allowed me to

envision myself as an educator, which is a dream of mine.‐ Andres
