Giving Professionals Time and
Space to Grow and Explore
The Visiting Artists Program is a core component of the Anderson Ranch experience,
bringing high-caliber artists of all disciplines to the Ranch campus. Participants come to
the Ranch to get away from their daily routine and enjoy the dedicated time and space to
work. Some choose to complete projects within their area of expertise, while others make
use of the facilities to do things that fall outside of their norm.
Visiting Artists live and work at the Ranch. While at Anderson Ranch they engage with the
creative energy of the community. The mentoring, support, inspiration and exchange of
ideas that takes place benefits everyone, from students and Artists-in-Residence to faculty
and staff.
The Visiting Artists Program began in 1980 with a series of collaborative projects in the print
shop. Over the years the program has expanded to all of the major disciplines supported at
the Ranch, including painting and drawing, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, photography
and new media, furniture design and woodworking, digital fabrication, and a wide range of
interdisciplinary projects.
