Shorter’s 4x400 team turned in the day’s final performance, finishing second in the night’s final race. Walker took the first leg, giving
the Lady Hawks a substantial lead, but over the next two legs – ran by
Promise Clark and Amber Littlejohn, respectively – Johnson C. Smith
erased the deficit to take the advantage. Jasmine Crump made a final
push for the Shorter, but JCSU’s Tovea Jenkins was able to hold on to
the lead and the win for her team. The Lady Hawks posted a time of
3:38.24; while Johnson C. Smith tallied a time of 3:35.42.
Nova Southeastern University women’s track and field collected
their biggest individual accomplishment of the season through Sherrelle Jordan. On Saturday Jordan lined up at the start line of the IMG
Academy track alongside the best women 100 meter hurdles competitors. The first attempt to start was a false start, which unfortunately
eliminated one of the runners from St. Augustine’s University. During
the second and final attempt, Jordan set a time of 13.81 and placed
sixth crowning herself as an All-American athlete.
Alabama-Huntsville senior Ackiesha Burnett claimed All-American in the 100-meter hurdles. Burnett - a two-time outdoor All-American - placed fifth overall with a time of 13.77 in 100 meter hurdles.
The Spanish Town, Jamaica, native ends her career as the program-record holder in 100 meter hurdles with a mark of 13.61 set earlier this
season.
51 PBC Women’s Track & Field Athletes Named All-Region
NEW ORLEANS, LA -- Fifty-One Peach Belt Conference women’s track
& field athletes have been named All-Region by the USTFCCCA. The
PBC winners come from both the south and southeast regions. To be
named All-Region, an athlete must either be ranked in the top-5 of
an individual event in the region according to final TFRRS data or be
part of a top-3 relay team. Many PBC athletes were recognized as
All-Region in multiple events
