STATUS
Toowoomba Regional Council is the registered Service
Provider (TRC SP499) for Water Supply and Sewerage
Services to the Toowoomba Region. In 2015-16 we
supplied treated drinking water to 151, 275 customer
provided sewerage services to 127,095 customers.
Water Infrastructure Services Branch is responsible for
maintenance of Council’s water and sewerage waste
water trunk and reticulation networks, dams, dam safety,
fixed plant and equipment and associated control
systems for water and sewerage infrastructure.
The Water and Waste Services group provides quality
water supply and efficient sewerage services to
connected customers in the Toowoomba Region. The
Group also is responsible for the collection, recycling and
disposal of domestic and commercial waste. The group
is made up of five functional branches including Water
Operations, Water and Waste Strategy and Coordination,
Water Infrastructure Services, Water Project Services and
Waste Services.
In 2015-16 Council provided drinking water to 151,275
residents and provided sewerage and wastewater
treatment to 127,096 customers.
The group aims to achieve service provision in a manner
that maximises both the region’s available resources and
community expectations, whilst encouraging recycling,
reuse and minimising environmental impacts to our natural
resources. This is achieved through the assessment of
social, economic and environmental objectives at all
stages of water and waste management operations.

The Water and Waste Strategy Coordination branch provide
strategic planning, coordination and business support to
the Water and Waste Services Group and other internal
business units, ensuring excellence in service delivery.

CHAPTER 3 Our organisation
The Water Operations Branch is responsible for managing
Council’s water and sewerage networks. In 2015-16 we
achieved the following key results:
• Supplied 13,041 megalitres of treated drinking water
• Collected and treated 7,506 ML of wastewater
The Waste Services Branch is responsible for the
collection and disposal of domestic and commercial
waste. Waste Services manage solid waste (including
recycling) in the Toowoomba Region including:
• Management, operation and control of the waste
management facilities
• Training, education and awareness campaigns
associated with waste services to the community
• Rehabilitation and maintenance of closed waste
facilities.
