Mike has over 30 years of engineering,
management, design and construction
experience in government and the
private sector. He holds a Bachelor
of Engineering, a Masters of Local
Government Management, and a
Graduate Diploma of Local Government
Engineering from the University of
Technology, Sydney. Most of his career
has been spent in local government in
New South Wales and Queensland, as
well as senior roles with Queensland
Main Roads. He currently leads the
Infrastructure Services Group within
Toowoomba Regional Council,
responsible for delivering the group’s
operational and capital programs. Prior
to joining Toowoomba Regional Council
in August 2011, Mike was employed with
Brisbane City Council in a number of
senior roles.

Nick Hauser has worked in local
government for the last ten years,
joining Toowoomba Regional
Council in 2008 as the Manager of
the Parks and Recreation Services
Branch. He previously worked for the
Rockhampton Regional Council and
in the field of sports management and
administration.
Nick was schooled in Toowoomba and
was School Captain of St Joseph’s
College in 1993. He is married to Katie
with three young children. In his spare
time, he is involved in his children’s
sporting pursuits, enjoys playing touch
football, and running for fitness. He
has completed eleven half-marathons
and is always working towards his next
personal best. Nick is also involved in
junior rugby union administration.
Mike is an active member of Engineers
Australia, having served as the President
of Engineers Australia (Queensland)
in 2010. Mike was also appointed to
the Board of Professional Engineers
Queensland as Engineers Australia’s
representative in mid-2012. He is also
an active member of the Institute of
Public Works Engineers Association of
Queensland.

Kevin Flanagan has extensive
local government practice and
experience spanning 39 years in the
design, construction, maintenance
and operation of Engineering
Infrastructure. He is a Fellow of the
Institution of Engineers Australia and
holds graduate and post-graduate
qualifications in Engineering Science
and Management. Before starting work
at Toowoomba City Council in 1989,
Kevin previously worked at Murweh,
Moree Plains and Kilkivan Shires and in
private practice. Kevin was promoted
to Deputy City Engineer in 1990, rising
to Director of Engineering Services
in 1999. Post amalgamation in 2008,
Kevin was appointed to his current role
as General Manager Water and Waste
Services.
Kevin and his wife Libby have four
adult children and six grandchildren.
In his spare time, he enjoys watching
all sport and is a keen rugby follower
having retired as a first-grade referee
in 2007. He also enjoys travel, Ireland
being a favourite, and working on
his acreage north of Toowoomba. A
more recent interest is following his
grandchildren's sporting activities.
