As an organisation I feel we are growing and evolving as the community we continue to serve changes. 2014-15 2015-16 Office of the CEO 100% 73% Governance 100% 73% N/A 75% Legal Services strong position again this year, with a $495 million budget – this included a capital works program of $213 million and an operational expenditure of $282 million. There is no doubt our region is growing, however, we need to ensure this growth is sustainable. With new assets comes added responsibility for their maintenance and eventually their renewal. This requires long-term planning to ensure our sound financial position continues. The work on improving the management of our assets across the region has been a critical step toward automating this component of our business and enabling more accurate planning. I certainly feel that we have begun to chart a very exciting journey when it comes to modernising our systems and processes which have a significant knock-on effect for our service delivery capability. As we reduce the administration associated with our work, we create more time to get the jobs done that impact our community the most. None of this is possible without a strong and capable workforce. A skilled and efficient workforce is vital in any successful organisation – including Toowoomba Regional Council. As the region’s largest employer, Toowoomba Regional Council understands how important it is to provide our staff with the training opportunities and development to have them grow personally and professionally. Not only does this offer career satisfaction and advancement for our valued employees, it also ensures our residents and customers receive the very best in service when dealing with Council. With the modernisation STATUS of key organisational systems, a large proportion of our training this financial year has needed to be in up-skilling staff to use this new technology which we know in the years to come will create greater efficiency gains. I am pleased to say that our new and returning Councillors have hit the ground running and there is a great understanding between Councillors and the Executive about where we want to take the organisation and Region over the course of the next term. A major driver will be our continued focus on ensuring that we have a customer-centric culture and that a high standard of service delivery remains the absolute priority. I would like to finish by thanking my Executive team who work with passion and commitment to make this community great and the Toowoomba Region staff who also work hard to serve our community. I am proud to present our achievements for the year on the pages ahead.
