His father Pat was also a Toowoomba local, while his mother Cecile is from the Philippines and moved to the Garden City in 1981. James has two younger sisters Kate and Karen who also live and work in Toowoomba. James is married to a Toowoomba girl Erin Kehoe-O'Shea. Cr O’Shea spent 13 years working at WIN Television Toowoomba, five of those as Chief of Staff. James also has a media background working on radio and in newspapers and still presents a weekly radio program on community radio 102.7FM. Working with his wife Erin, Cr O’Shea also owns and operates his own small business KOMM, which is a media and marketing consultancy company. Cr O’Shea is an executive board member of Sports Darling Downs and the Vice President of The Great White Campaign to bring a neurosurgeon to Toowoomba. This is Cr O’Shea’s first term as Councillor at the Toowoomba Regional Council. “The Toowoomba Region is in the spotlight to be an intermodal transport hub. My term at Council will be to work with the community to improve trafficflow efficiencies, advocate for public transport and encourage positive changes in car parking behaviours across the region." - Cr James O’Shea 34 CHAPTER 2 Our Council CHAIR - FINANCE AND BUSINESS STRATEGY COMMITTEE Cr Mike Williams is serving his third term on Toowoomba Regional Council and is Chair of the Finance and Business Strategy Committee. He also Chair of the Service Improvement and Information Technology governance group and is a member of the Audit committee. To support his role on council Mike has completed the Australian Company Directors course, has a Bachelor of Business and has recently completed his Master of Business in Applied Finance at USQ. Over the 8 years as chair of finance, Mike is proud to have guided TRC to a financially sound position as assessed by QLD Treasury. Prior to amalgamation Mike severed 8 years on the Cambooya Shire Council with the last 4 as Deputy Mayor. Mike and his wife Jo-Anne have operated the successful Mike Williams Country Clothing business in Russell st for 28 years. They live at Hodgson Vale where they breed horses and Angus cattle. Mike has played Polocrosse for 44 years and enjoys the game playing with children, Andrew, Melinda and Hayden when time permits. Jo competes in One Day Eventing with her home bred Warmblood team of horses.
