infrastructure in accordance with the endorsed Capital Works Program and will be completed in the 2016-17 financial year .

Compliant water reclamation and water recycling infrastructure
The Wetalla Water Reclamation Facility consistently achieves licence compliances for all parameters of water reclamation . Sewage that enters the facility undergoes physical , chemical and biological processes to remove contaminants and produce an environmentally-safe , ecologically-sound effluent prior to discharge . Treated effluent is discharged to the environment or fed into the advanced Water Treatment plant that produces high-quality recycled water for industrial use .
Construction on the Pittsworth Wastewater Treatment Plant commenced this year to replace the old plant and provide increased capacity for our Pittsworth residents . This project included the design and construction of a new sewage treatment plant for the town of Pittsworth at the corner of Spring Street and Long Road . The project provides a modern sewage treatment plant , suitable for discharge to Perrier Gully . It will also cater for reuse of reclaimed water at locations around the town including the golf course . The facility has been finalised with contractor ’ s defects liability period to commence next financial year .
The overall environmental performance of our wastewater and water recycling infrastructure was enhanced this year following the decommissioning of the Highfields , Oakey and Westbrook Wastewater Treatment Plants . In early 2016-17 , the commissioning of the Wyreema to Westbrook Trunk Sewer Rising main and the decommissioning of the Wyreema Wastewater Treatment Plant increased the overall environmental performance and capacity of our sewerage network .
Regulated trade waste
Council continues to monitor and regulate industrial , manufacturing and other trade waste sewer discharges to safeguard our wastewater network infrastructure . This year has again seen compliance with our trade waste policy by generators and the continual strengthening of business relationships to ensure the future sustainability of our networks ; reducing the amount of trade waste generated and non-compliant disposal .
Sewer relining
Council consistently investigates progressive techniques for the maintenance and repair of its infrastructure to improve life expectancy and reduce the impact of works to surrounding areas and residences . Sewer relining allows Council to repair parts of the sewer network without major disruption to our customers and can be the most efficient technique to repair ageing sewer pipes . This financial year saw the completion of works to reline sewers in Oakey , Pittsworth , Toowoomba and Yarraman . A contract was also awarded this year for additional sewer relining for to be completed in the 2016-17 financial year .
