Improve safety serviceability and efficiency of our region ’ s road networks
The growth in our region has required substantial investment in developing our road networks this year , with the support of Council , State and Federal Government funding .
Work continued on Stage 1 of the O ’ Mara Road upgrade , a $ 21 million project to improve access to the Greater Toowoomba Waste Management Facility and key infrastructure in West Toowoomba .
The works program includes :
• A signalised intersection at Witmack Road
• Road works to provide a four-lane carriageway between the Warrego Highway and Witmack Road , including a new two-lane carriageway on the western side
• A new bridge over Dry Creek to provide improved flood immunity to a nominal 1-in-100-year event
• Significant underground stormwater drainage works to cater for a 1-in-20-year event
• Auxiliary lanes for slow-moving heavy and oversized vehicles .
This work was undertaken with joint funding from the Queensland Government ’ s Royalties for the Region Round Two Grants program , the Toowoomba Regional Council and contribution from QGC .
The 2015-16 roadwork priorities , articulated in the 10-year Capital Plan were also completed , were also completed with 11 roads re-sheeted , 83 roads resealed and the Kingsthorpe Streets Rehabilitation Project .
