With a population of over 160,000, it’s important that
Council enhances liveability and sustainability and
builds adequate infrastructure. With the construction
of infrastructure, it’s important we also continue to
implement and plan an integrated built and natural
environment that supports these priorities. Planning
for a growing region is a great responsibility and
whilst it is important to ensure consistent and cohesive
infrastructure planning, it’s essential that community
collaboration is included to realise the shared vision
of our region.
Our challenges
• Being responsive to community consultation
aligning feedback with infrastructure planning and
implementation
• Limited external funding available to increase
capacity for additional road network infrastructure
• Works in West Creek and East Creek impacted
by minor rainfall events upstream that resulted in
considerable flows through the worksites
• Planning for works to integrate the TSRC with
existing infrastructure capital works
• Land resumption process delaying road works in
O’Mara Road Charlton
• Ensuring the safety of construction teams working
around buried assets including electricity,
telephone, water and sewerage infrastructure
• Controlling reactive maintenance that delays
planned infrastructure construction
• Project management of major projects to meet
competing deadlines
• Delivering projects within delivery timeframes with
uncontrollable weather conditions and delays.
