Despite limited high-level softball experience, the talented Armstrong led Nebraska with 62 hits and a .346 batting average in 2013. The last two Husker freshmen shortstops to earn all-conference recognition each went on to become three-time All-Americans. Armstrong also became only the sixth freshman to lead NU in batting average, and each of the first five Huskers to accomplish that feat went on to become All-Americans. She also paced NU with 62 hits, becoming the fifth Husker freshman to lead the team in hits. Armstrong joined three-time AllAmericans Ali Viola and Jennifer Lizama and two-time All-American Tobin Echo-Hawk as the only Husker freshmen to lead the team in hits and average. Defensively, Armstrong fielded the most chances by a shortstop (258) in school history in 2013, and responded by posting the second-best fielding percentage by a shortstop (.953).
