program, graduated from the University
of California Berkeley, became a Teach for
America public school teacher, and has
now committed her long-term career to
helping students, just like her, maximize
their potential. As you read on, you’ll see
the innate ability our students, like Marlene,
have to create lasting and visible change
when given the opportunity.
Thank you for helping to grow and develop
the natural talent within our students. Your
commitment makes a difference to our
College Track scholars each and every day.
With gratitude,
FUN FACT
ABOUT ELISSA
Q: Where did you grow
up and how did it shape
your education?
A: I grew up east of Los
Angeles, where I was the
first person in my family to
attend and graduate from
college. I was fortunate
to move out of a lowperforming district in
middle school, which gave
me access to teachers who
maintained high academic
rigor and expectations. I
have always been aware this
move completely changed
my educational trajectory.
