world class
Generous community support to the University Hospital Foundation
changed and saved the lives of over 750,000 patients - who received
care at the University of Alberta Hospital, the Mazankowski Alberta
Heart Institute and the Kaye Edmonton Clinic in 2014-2015.
This support was recognized at the Chairman’s Dinner and President’s Brunch
events, held annually in honour of donors to the University Hospital Foundation.
And this year, the inaugural Passport to Excellence was introduced.
When Tom Goodchild spoke, everyone listened
“I’m a new man, I have
my life back - and I’m
tremendously grateful to
Dr. Sankar and the entire
team at the University of
Alberta Hospital.”
Tom Goodchild
Restaurant owner Tom Goodchild shared the story of his battle with Dystonia, a
movement disorder that causes involuntary muscle contractions and repetitive
movements, at the 2015 Chairman’s Dinner.
Passport to Excellence
What a wonderful situation to be in – with so many donors to thank, the University
Hospital Foundation added a third donor event, Passport to Excellence. This
intimate reception provided Foundation donors with the opportunity to speak
directly with physician leaders about the impact of their support. Donors
had the opportunity to hear from some of the world’s top clinicians and
researchers in cardiac care, critical care, gastroenterology and brain care
(including neurosurgeon Dr. Keith Aronyk, pictured on p. 24).
