2013 CHICAGOPEX Stamp Show November 2013 | Page 224

Session II: Sunday, November 24, 2013 Estimate Estimate 2459 USA Collections, cont. 2454 ( ) 1859-98 HIGHER-VALUE STUCK-DOWN/NO GUM CLASSIC STAMPS .................................................... $750-1000 Attractive selection of Mint & Used issues on stock pages in black binder. Some MINT highlights include: Franklin 1¢ #63 unused no gum, Washington 3¢ #147, Webster 15¢ #189, #210 NH, #269 plate # single NH, Trans-Mississippi 5¢ #288, Pan-American 8¢ #298 NH & 10¢, Jamestown 5¢ #330, many Washington-Franklins including singles, imperf pairs, coils, bluish paper #357-58 NH, $5 #524, $2 #547 and others, Panama-Pacific 10¢ #400A, $2 & $5 perf 10 #479-80, selected 4th Bureaus with $1 (x2), $2 & $5 NH (x2), Prexies complete with MNH $1 (x2), $2, & $5 (x2), Famous Americans complete MNH, nice range of mint commemoratives thru year 1950, Airmails C10//C131 with C18 MH, 12 MNH Federal Ducks RW12//RW60, selected mint & used Canal Zone and other odds & ends. Clean material with high cat value. Overall, fine to very fine with some better. Useful but somewhat troublesome stock of about 40 stamps, beginning with 10¢ 1859 (#35) through 10¢ Trans-Mississippi. All stamps either stuck to ‘102’ stock cards or unused, no gum. There’s also a regummed 15¢ Columbian. We note a few minor faults. Still, with many marked ‘NH’ by the dealer, they should be fairly clean. Owner’s catalog value unrealistically huge (more than $17,000), with many marked and valued as ‘NH’ and several major ones misidentified. Realistic catalog value as ‘no-gum,’ since most will have to be soaked, is closer to something a little north of $4,000. Centering ranges from average to extremely fine, with many attractive stamps throughout. This lot, plus your work, can equal some rather nice results. 2455 / /( )/ 1860s-1950s SINGLES & PLATE BLOCKS ACCUMULATION .................................................... $1200-1700 2460 Accumulation of early Mint commemoratives including TransMississippi to 50¢, Columbians to 30¢ & other commemoratives, C5(x2), C18, Postage Dues, Revenues, and other singles, plus plate blocks #320, 2¢ Reds, some Washington Bicentennials, Farley National Parks & Famous Americans; C7-C8, C10, C12 and other plate blocks.
