J u sANSAER e ! t Wx compliance question of the month THE “Please send me a Stanford t-shirt” Many DAPER staff members are asked by the public for Stanford memorabilia, autographs, and tickets for either personal use or for charitable organizations.. Please note that all requests for donations must be submitted through Stanford Athletics’ online request form. The form can be found at www.gostanford.com on the Community Relations site. Once the online request is submitted both the Marketing and Compliance Services offices will review the request. Donation requests are granted to registered 501K nonfor-profits within Bay Area counties. Donations to high schools and athletic organizations invlovling prospect aged recruits are not permissible. Donation requests cannot be provided by student-athletes, coaches or athletic administrators without Compliance Services approval. This includes any equipment or items with student-athletes’ signatures. ! No, unfortunately, publicizing a team’s off-season activities is not permissible -- NCAA Bylaw 17.1.6.2.2 states that participation by student-athletes in skill-related instruction in sports other than baseball and football is permitted outside Stanford’s declared playing season; however, out-of-season team activities cannot be publicized or conducted in view of a general public audience. Search “stanford compliance services” A REVIEW OF EXTRA BENEFITS An extra benefit is any special arrangement by a Stanford employee or a representative of athletics interests (e.g., donor, booster, alumni, parent, etc.) to provide a student-athlete or his/her relatives or friends with a tangible benefit. While there are many items that Stanford can provide to our student-athletes, there are also numerous situations we all need to be cautious of and observant for what other individuals may be providing. Please remember that compliance of NCAA regulations is everyone’s responsibility and if you see or hear of something that could potentially be an extra benefit for a student-athlete(s), please notify the Compliance Services Office.
