n its 2011-12 annual report, the State Collaborative on Reforming Education (SCORE) highlighted several key areas as priorities for the state to focus on in improving education: sustained policy leadership, robust professional learning for educators, strengthening teacher
preparation programs, and enhancing the principal pipeline. There was substantial progress in
many areas, but much work remains to be done to ensure that Tennessee’s education reform
agenda is implemented consistently and leads to improved student outcomes.
After several years of important
reforms in public education, policy
leaders in 2012 focused on the
critical task of implementation.
