T
he sophisticated, transitional vibe of this downtown Hoboken apartment resonates throughout every room. Designed and executed by Hoboken’s D&G
Interiors + Design, this fourth-floor Jackson Street unit offers its homeowners a little bit of everything: the perfect mix of traditional and modern elements with pops of color and a touch of glam. Partners and senior designers
Marisa Drogin and Brian Garcia led the gut renovation, working closely with
architect Antonio Aiello of Urban Design Workshop and contractor Walter Ortiz, owner
of R.E.D. LLC, both also based in the square-mile city. Because the homeowners wanted
to create a household where they could raise a family, making the most of the available
space was a priority.
Kitchen & Dining Room
Throughout the entire home are white oak floors, stained in a custom medium tone. The white
kitchen cabinetry, accented by Thermador stainless-steel appliances, was custom built by John Earl
Fine Furniture of Rockaway. The gunmetal gray and black glaze center island features an Elkay
farmhouse sink with Brizo faucet equipped to instantly provide both boiling and purified, cold
water. The island, also built by John Earl, is crowned with a white Caesarstone quartz countertop.
The rest of the kitchen countertops, which run through a bar and serving area, are made of black
Caesarstone quartz. Three antique pewter and oak wood stools sit against the island, used for
additional seating. The Global Views stainless steel base and glass-top dining table, which can
comfortably seat six, is surrounded by four black leather chairs with stainless-steel nail-head
accents. A split image of a horse’s head is mounted on a Plexiglas floating frame that sits against
a tone-on-tone lattice print wallpaper in graphite and black. The eye-catching piece of art hides
a flat- screen television recessed into the wall. Finally, a dramatic Global Views stainless-steel
chain-link drum chandelier completes the edgy yet welcoming ambiance of the dining space.
