It was a really beautiful path, all along the river,” she says. Randi also enjoys biking, a hobby she’s trying to get DeAndre into as well. And when the city beckons, they can be there in no time. “We take the ferry from right here in Edgewater,” says Randi, adding that the quick ride is like taking a “mini cruise.” On the weekends, when Edgewater’s terminal is closed, they head over to nearby Weehawken’s Port Imperial. Despite how easy it is to leave town, both agree that they are here to stay. “I think we’ll be in Edgewater for a while,” says Randi. ◆ favorite food store WHOLE FOODS “We used to drive out here to shop at Whole Foods and we fell in love with the area.” – DeAndre best bike routes HOBOKEN OR PALISADES INTERSTATE PARK “When I bike the Palisades trails I often stop at Ross Dock to rest. DeAndre’s job with the Giants, where he’s currently in his fifth season, has him commuting to the Quest Diagnostics Training Center adjacent to MetLife Stadium, a drive that was only minutes from his Secaucus home. “One of my concerns moving here was how backed up River Road would be since it’s so close to the GW Bridge,” he says. But both he and Randi, an ultrasound technician at Jersey City Medical Center, find their commutes are easy. “We hardly ever hit traffic, so it’s no issue,” he adds. Even with all that Edgewater has to offer, the couple still frequents Jersey City. “We go back for brunch and to see friends all the time,” Randi says of her old neighborhood. “A cool new spot called Dullboy just opened that we’ve been going to. They’ve got great cocktails and a fun menu. And we love this restaurant called LITM that always switches up their seasonal menu and makes great martinis.” Not surprisingly, the sports-loving couple also go back to play ball. “We’re in a sports league out there called ZogSports,” says DeAndre.
