efore its demolition, the
Pep Boys Auto Center on
Luis Munoz Boulevard in
Jersey City was covered
in a rare collection of
graffiti and street art
created by area artists.
Jersey City’s Gregory Edgell and his
production company, Green Villain,
began transforming the side of the building that faces the Hudson-Bergen Light
Rail after receiving permission from Pep
Boys. When Edgell found out the building was to be demolished, the property’s
developers, Forest City Enterprises and
G&S Investors, gave access to the entire
building – inside and out – covering
30,000 square feet and allowed artists
to continue creating artwork.
