Neurosurgery Associates, and his patients, both children and
adults. Armed with both patience and compassion, he addresses all
of his patients’ concerns and is quick to put them at ease.
Neurosurgery is a medical specialty that focuses on diseases and
disorders that affect the entire nervous system, including the spine,
spinal cord and peripheral nerves, and Dr. Fried is one of the few
physicians board-certified in both adult and pediatric neurosurgery.
With more than 25 years experience, Dr. Fried continues to see
many cases of hydrocephalus, epilepsy and brain tumors and
remains committed to providing the best and most up-to-date care
possible. Turning to the active adult segment of ANA’s practice, he
specializes in brain tumor treatment, along with epilepsy and
intracranial neurosurgical conditions.
Having completed a brain tumor fellowship through the American
Cancer Society, Dr. Fried utilizes such cutting-edge technologies
and techniques as stereotactic navigation guidance and endoscopic
minimally invasive brain surgery including endoscopic third
ventriculostomy for hydrocephalus treatment. ANA also maintains
a large adult patient caseload focusing on brain tumor treatments,
epilepsy and intracranial neurosurgical issues.
Dr. Fried began his career at the Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia
and advanced to the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic where he
served as Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery. His distinguished career
in academics includes more than 65 scientific publications and
book chapters, as well as national speaking engagements.
Dr. Fried is the recipient of many honors in the field of neurosurgery. He has been named a Top Neurosurgeon in New York
magazine, New Jersey Monthly and Inside Jersey, plus one of
Castle Connolly’s America’s Best Doctors. Recently, his pediatric
neuroscience department at Hackensack University Medical was
recognized in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s
Hospital feature. He holds leadership positions at several major NJ
medical centers, including Saint Peter’s University Hospital, Jersey
City Medical Center and Saint Barnabas Medical Center.
