Ridgewood
For a
decade,
readers have
been lining
up their
beach chairs
and casting
their ballots
for Ridgewood. Revelers enjoy the spectacle from
Godwin Park to Village Hall – all in celebration of
American Independence. Floats and fire trucks,
pipers and police, and the award-winning
Ridgewood High School Marching Band make the
morning promenade through the village a treasure
to behold.

Parades are popular throughout Bergen, but
especially in Ridgefield Park, where the annual
Fourth of July Parade is an event not to be missed.

can boast two of the
best holes in Bergen.
Sloping severely from
right to left, No. 12, or
Redan, is a par 3 and is
guarded by bunkers front
and back. No. 16, or The Punchbowl as it is known
to course regulars, is a 425-yard par 4 hole that plays
to a gently rising fairway. Both holes are tough,
but exciting to experience.

Every town has its public basketball
courts where kids or adults gather
for pickup games. But if anyone
wants a real challenge, try the courts
at Votee Park in Teaneck. Games are
usually going on from early morning
until the lights shut off. Teaneck
High School has won several Bergen
County Jamboree Championships,
along with its neighbors,
Hackensack High School and
Dwight Morrow in Englewood. The
mix of locals and out-of-towners
looking for a good
run, make this park
the place to watch or
play in a good game.
