There were 65 blue-ribbon winners at the 1969 Ten­ nessee Walking Horse National Celebration. Most were deserving winners who performed well to take the blue. There were a lot of truly good horses that com­ peted and a few . . . not many, mind you, but a few . . . "great” horses. We do not pretend to be the final word on what constitutes greatness but we will try to hit the highlights of a few classes in which it is gen­ erally agreed that "greatness” was a probability. The names of a few of our winners come to mind as the only horses to win the nod of all three judges straight across the board in both their class and the stake. The following horses were so honored: MOON- GLOW, JR.; HILL’S PERFECTION; HANDSHAKER’S DELIGHT; ROCK-A-BY-LADY; and DELIGHT’S RED SHADOW. There were also a few outstanding per­ formances in individual classes that produced across- the-board ties. Winners in these classes were: SUN’S ANGEL, with L. Frank Roper up in the 50 & Over Class; HONEY, Bud Seaton up in the Junior Mare Class; MONEYTREE’S SHADOW, with Laura Brandon up in the Ladies Gelding Class; GREGG’S PERFEC­ TION with Gregg Gochneaur up in the Juvenile Mare & Gelding Class; GO BOY’S BLACK ANGEL with C. A. Bobo up in the Aged Mare Class; GO BOY’S PRESIDENT, handled by Steve Beech in the Yearling Championship; and EBONY MASTERPIECE, handled by S. W. Beech in the Get of Sire Class.
