1969 Voice Of The Tennessee Walking Horse 1969 September/October Voice RS | Page 86
There were 65 blue-ribbon winners at the 1969 Ten
nessee Walking Horse National Celebration. Most were
deserving winners who performed well to take the
blue. There were a lot of truly good horses that com
peted and a few . . . not many, mind you, but a few . . .
"great” horses. We do not pretend to be the final
word on what constitutes greatness but we will try to
hit the highlights of a few classes in which it is gen
erally agreed that "greatness” was a probability.
The names of a few of our winners come to mind as
the only horses to win the nod of all three judges
straight across the board in both their class and the
stake. The following horses were so honored: MOON-
GLOW, JR.; HILL’S PERFECTION; HANDSHAKER’S
DELIGHT; ROCK-A-BY-LADY; and DELIGHT’S RED
SHADOW. There were also a few outstanding per
formances in individual classes that produced across-
the-board ties. Winners in these classes were: SUN’S
ANGEL, with L. Frank Roper up in the 50 & Over
Class; HONEY, Bud Seaton up in the Junior Mare
Class; MONEYTREE’S SHADOW, with Laura Brandon
up in the Ladies Gelding Class; GREGG’S PERFEC
TION with Gregg Gochneaur up in the Juvenile Mare
& Gelding Class; GO BOY’S BLACK ANGEL with
C. A. Bobo up in the Aged Mare Class; GO BOY’S
PRESIDENT, handled by Steve Beech in the Yearling
Championship; and EBONY MASTERPIECE, handled
by S. W. Beech in the Get of Sire Class.
One of the really outstanding performances this year
