J . T . LEECH and MANOR ’ S GO BOY WIN THIRD ANNUAL LOOKOUT VALLEY JAYCEE HORSE SHOW
The small town of Tiftonia , Tennessee , nestled at the foot of Lookout Mountain , proved that Walking Horses pull the crowds , even in damp weather . The Jaycees made the decision earlier to drop all classes other than Walking Horse classes from their show , which made it a much shorter show yet still proved profitable for the club . Four other major shows being held the same night makes the success even more commendable .
J . T . Leech had been in Nashville , Tennessee the first part of the week and came to Tiftonia on September 20 to win the stake on MANOR ’ S GO BOY for Manor House Farms , Pulaski , Tennessee . Every time J . T . shows this horse , he looks better . He tied third in the 15.2 & Under Stallion Class at the Celebration this year . Paul Smith took MAJURE ’ S QUEEN CITY to the U . T . football game in Knoxville , Tennessee the day of the show for an exhibition as the Walking Horse mascot , then drove back to the Lookout Valley show to tie reserve .
Steve Clark , riding for Clark Stables of Arab , Alabama , won the Walking Pony Class on MAGIC ’ S MYS TERY MAN . Bob Cooley won the blue in the Four- Year-Old Class on DELIGHT ’ S DELIGHT for Mr . and Mrs . Charles Lee of Madisonville , with Ray Tenpenny and THE MIDNIGHT SPECIAL tying second for C . B . McMullan of Rome , Georgia . DELIGHT ’ S DELIGHT put on another tremendous show that night with Sharon Lee riding to win the Juvenile Class .
In the amateur divisions , MIDNIGHT KING and capable rider Marsha Mills of Ringgold , Georgia took the blue ; the Gentlemen Amateur Class was captured by DOCTOR T and Bill Johnston of Chattanooga . LITTLE TEXAS and Bob Cooley made a great comeback after an injury that kept him from showing at the Celebration to win the Three-Year-Old Class at
Tiftonia . The Stallion & Gelding Class winner was MOONLIGHT SHADOW , ridden by Charles Turner for Casey Jones Stables , Shelbyville . Bob Cooley won another class with his two-year-old DELIGHT ’ S RHY THM for Hicks Realty Co ., Alexandria , Va .

and EBONY ’ S DREAM , owned by Donnell Baggarly of Murfreesboro and handled by Larry Lunsford , won the Yearling Class .
The Lookout Valley Jaycees are to be congratulated for another successful show . John Lively and Tim Storey did their usual top job of promotion and public relations , and again it paid off . James Rowland , Murfreesboro , was the judge ._______________________
SALE OF SHOWRING CHAMPIONS
The 1969 Sale of Showring Champions proved popular again this year with Celebration fans as large turnouts of spectators and buyers atended each of the five days of the sale . The dates of the sale were September 2-6 , and 255 horses were sold . The prime location of the sale grounds in relation to the Celebration is no doubt a factor in the success of this sale . Also , the tested and proven staff of the sale make it one of the best-run sales for Walking Horses anywhere in the country . The sale is owned by S . W . Beech and Pete Yokley , the same combination that owns and operates the Murray Farm Sales . These two knowledgable horsemen are experts at putting on a well-run sale and they have a most efficient and hardworking crew . Barbara Wiggins is one of the keys to the sale and her efforts again this year were of tremendous advantage to the sale .
Close to 350 head of horses were consigned to the sale , with the top-priced horse being SUN DUST REB EL MAID . This six-year-old mare was purchased by James Clark of Arab , Alabama for $ 7,100 . The horse was consigned by Sharon Terry Stables of Cleveland , Mississippi .
TIJUANA TAXI was sold by J . R . McPeters , Jr . of Florence , Alabama to J . T . McMullen of Billingham , Washington for $ 3,850 . MORGAN MOULTRIE ’ S ED , owned by Norman & Parnell , was sold to Sam Greer of Delton , S . C . for $ 3,500 , and EBONY GOLD , consigned by Fashion Two Twenty Stables of Aurora , Oh ., was purchased by Jerome Ryan of Hattiesburg , Ms . for $ 3,500 . JADA ’ S JAMBOREE was sold for $ 3,425 by John Waller of Mobile , Alabama to Delbert Burchett of Grayson , Ky .
Officials of the sale were well pleased with the results and indicated that there were many new buyers and plenty of " new interest ” in the breed . Many people were reportedly looking for top pleasure stock , and there was plenty available .
