BREEDERS’ ASSOCIATION FUTURITY ATTRACTS TOP RECORD ATTENDANCE AT 1969 The 1969 Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ Asso ciation Annual Futurity drew a record number of top colts, and increased interest in the show was evi denced by an extra-large crowd of spectators. It is estimated that approximately five thousand attended the show this year and, although it is a free-admission event, it was obvious that horsemen from across the nation were interested in the outcome. Judges for the show this year, chosen by vote of the membership who have colts nominated for the Futurity, were: Milton Alexander, Woodbury, Tennes see; Buddy Black, Tullahoma, Tennessee; and Paul Smith, Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. All three men were well-qualified by experience for the job of judging this most important and very lucrative Futurity, and the winners can take pride in their victory. There was more than $18,000 in prize money and trophies offered in the show this year. Unlike most shows, the money in a futurity is allocated according to the total amount in the "Futurity Fund” which is built up according to how many horses are actually nominated for the show. The state of Tennessee also allocates funds for the Breeders’ Association Futurity, which makes a victory at this show quite profitable. Winners of the 1969 Futurity are as follows: WEANLING FILLIES: (1) SHADOW’S MISS SUN BEAM, H. C. Bailey, Jackson, Ms.; (2) SHADOW’S QUEEN P., J. p. Parnell, Newbern; (3) GO BOY’S DOLLY II, Dr.-Mrs. DeWitt Owen, Jr., Franklin; (4) GO BOY’S PFUDE & JOY, William A. Vann, Water- town; (5) EBONY’S STROLLING SIS, Stanley Mc- Nabb, Murfreesboro; (6) REFLECTION’S DOLL, W. W. Voice of the Tennessee Walking Horse
