LAUDERDALE STABLES
Located at the entrance to the beautiful Shenandoah Valley , Lauderdale Stables is one of the newest and most modern barns in Virginia . It is constructed of white aluminum and contains all the necessities for the training of Walking Horses . There are twenty-four stalls , a wash rack adjoining a large tack room and clean-up area , a cooler room with automatic walker , a lounge for visitors , and a private office . There are also excellent outdoor riding facilities .
George Livingstone , formerly of Shelbyville , Tennessee , is manager and trainer . George presently has his barn full and is working some of the best stock in the state . Everyone who has seen his new stake horse , BOMB ' S BIM BAM , says he is without a doubt probably the best and truest Walking Horse ever to come to Virginia . BIM BAM was purchased by Dr . and Mrs . Donald Barnes to help improve the stock in the state .
The talk of the stable is MIGHTY DUCHESS , a coming-two sorrel filly by SUN ’ S DELIGHT out of a mare by SUN ’ S ELDORADO . She ’ s a big mare that rears back in the bridle and climbs with her front end and keeps her back end up under her . She ’ s fantastic ! The Barnes have also recently purchased a top mare , MORNING STAR K , from Mr . and Mrs . Jack Thomas , owners of Volunteer Stables in Manchester , Tenn . This beautiful black mare will be promoted for the aged mare classes .
Since the first of January , George has been accepting outside horses . For Charles Overstreet , Vinton , George is working SUNDUST JIM DANDY , a beautiful black stud you ’ d have to see to believe ! JIM will be shown by Mr . Overstreet in amateur classes and by George in stake classes . C . O .’ S GO BOY , Charlie ’ s bay gelding that tied reserve in the twelve-and-under class at the Celebration last year , is really working and is now offered for sale .
The beautiful black mare , GO BOY ’ S MISS FIRE BIRD . owned by Mr . and Mrs . Harry Webb and shown by their lovely daughter Janice , is now being readied for amateur classes . MISS FIREBIRD has a back end like a stud and lots of style — she and Janice always make an outstanding pair in the show ring .
John Helms of Stuart has just recently placed his stud , GO BOY S ENCHANTER , in George ’ s capable hands . This horse was known all over the state as a two-year-old . Many thought he had more future than most , but he suffered an unfortunate accident and he hasn ’ t been able to be brought back . George plans to take his time with him and see if this ability can ’ t once again be brought to the surface .

One of the besUbred black stud colts anywhere around is a new addition to George ’ s string . Owned by Mr . and Mrs . Glen Trent of Lynchburg , he is by MIDNIGHT SUN and out of a mare by MIDNIGHT SUN GLO O ! With that kind of kinfolks , he should make a real Walker .
Mr . and Mrs . Ed Bryant of Troutville have placed their JET AT KNIGHT with George who is working him toward making a nice horse for Ed and Red ’ s boys to show .
Last , but certainly not least , is ELECTRA 225 , that terrific bay gelding owned by Dr . and Mrs . Tom Gorsuch of Waynesboro . George tied ELECTRA fifth in the big Gelding Stake at the Celebration in 1967 . He is truly going to be one of the top horses in the country this year . Mrs . Gorsuch also has a pretty black GO BOY filly colt , GI GI , with George .
Besides having a barn full of good horses for himself and his sidekick , Mitch McCormick , to work , George has been busy buying and selling a lot of top horses . There is a bigger demand for real good horses this year than ever before . Requests from all over Virginia , particularly for amateur horses , have kept George busy running back and forth to Tennessee trying to fill all orders .
Visitors are always welcome at Lauderdale Stables and George is always glad to work horses for anyone that enjoys watching them . Drop in and see George anytime . He is located twenty-one miles north of Roanok , between exits 45 and 46 of the Interstate on U . S . 11 . If you time it just right , you may get to see his pride and joy , BOMB ’ S BIM BAM , and you ’ ll find it is well worth your time !

A black stallion by MERRY GO BOY was started about four months ago , and has to be seen to be believed . He ’ s coming-two in the spring . A jet-black SUN ’ S DELIGHT stud colt is just about ready to start working — he ’ s sixteen months old and is the stable ’ s pride and joy .
Two fillies that Bill is working are doing very well . They are GO BOY PRINCE and PERFECTION FLAME breeding .
