SAM PASCHAL ADDRESSES HUNTSVILLE SADDLE CLUB
The newly organized Huntsville Saddle Club , Inc . of Huntsville , Alabama enjoyed a double treat on the evening of January 21 . Premier Walking Horse trainer and ambassador of the Walking Horse business , Sam Paschal , appeared as guest speaker and narrated the fine Howard-Spencer film of the 1968 Celebration . In addition to offering his comments on the various stakes shown on the Celebration film , Sam gave many words of encouragement and advice to the Club and its members , particularly the younger members . He described the success that a saddle club in his home city of Murfreesboro . Tennessee has had since its organization and the great pleasure that the families associated with it have enjoyed . The meeting was attended by nearly 200 persons .
The Huntsville Saddle Club plans to have an active show season in 1969 . The members hope to promote at least one professional show each year . At the present time , an active effort is being made to locate a suitable site to be purchased as a permanent show ground .
The rapid growth of saddle clubs in the North Alabama area in the last few years has created a vast market for horses that might otherwise be difficult or impossible to sell . It is estimated that in the City of Huntsville alone there are approximately 500 horses , and it is obvious that most of the owners of these horses will sooner or later be prospects for other , perhaps better , horses . There are few things that those in the " horse business ” can do to help themselves more than to continue to promote saddle clubs in their areas .
