MILWAUKEE SPRING HORSE SHOW SUN'S HOLIDAY DOMINATES SHOW Up to and above its usual tradition, the Milwaukee Spring Horse Show was a great affair. The hard-work­ ing committee of Warren Maloney, General Chairman; Sam Kagen, show co-ordinator; Bill Stark, superin­ tendent; and Anita Stark, secretary, plus many others, saw the fruits of their year-long efforts come to a suc­ cessful climax as over 37,000 fans attended the four- day show7, May 29-June 1, and almost 600 horses were entered. George Robertson was the efficient ring­ master and John Marshall handled the announcing. Jack Montgomery did an excellent job of tying the seven Walking Horse classes. The Walking Horse people were delighted to have their own judge — someone who really knew howr a Walking Horse should go. The classes were well filled, and -were held in the indoor coliseum of State Fair Park, Milwaukee. A huge, lively exhibitors’ party was held Saturday night after the show, with good food and dancing - plus dance contests - accompanied by horse-talk until the wee hours. SUN’S HOLIDAY, with Buddy Hugh up for the Leo Baums’ River Tree Farm, had the crowd screaming and made a thrilling show. He captured both the $300 Championship Stake and the Open Class with his big, bold lick and three tremendous gaits. He also won a leg on the VOICE Challenge Trophy. SUN’S HOLI­ DAY continues to serve warning that he’s a top contender for the big one at Shelbyville. Second in the stake was the good-going INVASION’S BIG BOY, who put on a fine show for Phil Krueger and Perma­ nent Construction Company. Larry Pickhardt and GO BOY’S W. F. SPECIAL were third for Bob Peterson. Second to SUN’S HOLIDAY in the Open was an­ other River Tree entry, SHADOW OF ICHABOD, Leo Baum up, with INVASION’S BIG BOY third. Nineteen were entered in the Amateur Class, and 68 CELEBRATION CONTENDERS: Buddy Hugh and SUN’S HOLIDAY receive one of two first place ribbons they won at the recent Milwaukee Horse Show. Buddy and HOLIDAY thrilled the crowd in the Championship Stake as even the gaited horse lovers cheered his great performance. walking his way to the blue was the beautiful, big black stallion, SHADOW OF ICHABOD. SUN’S CRE­ ATOR came in second, with Ed McCoy doing the hon­ ors for the James Talberts. The black MIGHTY GO BOY was in third place for Dr. and Mrs. R. C. Ouden- hoven, Mrs. Sally Oudenhoven in the irons. Sally Patton did a beautiful job her second time in the show ring, winning the Juvenile class on EBONY’S SECRETARY. Rick Oudenhoven took an undisputed second on MIGHTY GO BOY, and Debbi
