1969 Voice Of The Tennessee Walking Horse 1969 January Voice RS | Page 72

° ®, the greatest concerns of almost everyone in the Walking Horse business , as indicated by our results , is the problem of false registrations . Everyone , large breeders and small , has reached a point where they have very little confidence in papers , especially if they concern a horse born and raised in Middle Tennessee . This is a strong assertion which needs immediate attention .
The Breeders ’ Association has recently taken steps to correct any procedures in their department that would make the prospect of false registration easier . There is no way to safeguard every phase of registrations , however ; and if an individual is inclined to be dishonest and can get any assistance whatever from a mare owner or a stallion owner , it will always be possible to produce papers that are incorrect . Since it has been clearly indicated that the vast majority of people in this business are aware of the situation , perhaps we can now take steps to reduce this practice .
While the results of our first " Breeders Survey ” are not conclusive , we do have , for the fust time , some guidelines for the future . We are fully aware that some of the trends , as indicated by this survey , are subject to discussion and drastic change over a short period of time . If the response by the mass of Walking Horse enthusiasts is favorable , we will probably entertain the thought of conducting similar surveys on other topics of interest to our readers .
Remember — " It ’ s not how many mares you breed , it ’ s how many colts you get !”
LEARNING TO LOVE
There are many who want me to tell them of secret ways of becoming perfect and I can only tell them that the sole secret is a hearty love of God , and the only way of attaining that love is by loving . You learn to speak by speaking , to study by studying , to run by running , to work by working ; and just so you learn to love God and man by loving . Begin as a mere apprentice and the very power of love will lead you on to become a master of the art .
