FALSE REGISTRATIONS PRIMARY CONCERN OF ALL BREEDERS!
The response to our recent "Breeders Survey” was
most gratifying. While these results are not "all-
inclusive,” they do give us some insight as to the
trends of our breeding activities. Our ultimate goal
was to assess the feelings of people active in this
area of our horse business and to get a consensus re
garding several key issues involving breeding. We
also wished to determine how effective we were in our
breeding practices and what, if anything, could be
done to improve conditions to the benefit of everyone
concerned.
Questionnaires came back from twenty-four states:
Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana,
Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota,
Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, Ohio,
South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah,
Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin. We received
answers from individuals who owned mares in various
quantities from one to twenty-one. We received ans
wers from large breeders and small breeders. We re
ceived answers from both stallion owners and mare
owners, and we believe that our answers represent a
genuine cross-section of the people active in the breed
ing 01 Tennessee Walking Horses from coast to coast.
This survey does not in any way reflect any opinion
on the part of the VOICE or members of our staff.
It is an accurate presentation of replies to specific
questions and the "general comments” do not neces
sarily represent the position of your Editor.
There were some very interesting facts that came
to our attention while compiling our "Breeders Sur
vey. One thing that amazed us was the number of
stallions being actively bred each year. We had no
idea that such wide-spread activity was taking place.

For your information we are printing a complete list
of the stallions that were represented on the returns
which we received. These are stallions that were ac
tively bred in 1968 in the twenty-four states repre
sented. They are in no specific order, and were re
corded from questionnaires as they came into the
VOICE office.
