i Continued from page 5) the top of the ladder of success and the ownership of Randall Rollins. He was first sold to Roy Davis of Calhoun, Georgia for $250 by Carmage Walls. He was shown twice as a two-year-old by Harold Kennedy before being purchased by Wink and Buddy Black in October of his two-year-old season for $5,000. Wink and Buddy retained ownership of ACE until May of his three-year-old season, when he was purchased by S. W. Beech and Billy Hale for $15,000. ACE went on to win the Three-Year-Old and Junior World Champ ionships under their ownership before being purchased by Randall Rollins for a six-figure price on the day of the Grand Championship Stake at the Celebration in 1968. Mr. Rollins’ reasons for buying ACE were simple — he was looking for the best horse showing, and that horse was ACE’S SENSATION. Anyone who knows Mr. Rollins appreciates his approach to everything he does ... if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right. He has applied this philosophy to the horse business, and it has paid dividends. But the life story of ACE’S SENSATION has been told before, and the attention of horsemen is now on the future of this great black stallion. The immediate future holds more rest for ACE —• he is currently at the Rollins’ spread in Atlanta enjoying some time off. He will be bred some this year to the excellent brood mares that Mr. Rollins has purchased the past sev eral years. After this assignment and several months of rest, ACE will be back in training. Wink and Mr. Rollins plan to go after that Grand Championship in 1970 and they will do it in much the same manner that they have followed in the past. ACE will be shown — in fact, Wink plans now to show him every three weeks at representative shows re gardless of the judge. Wink and Mr. Rollins will draw up a schedule early in the season and will follow it faithfully. Ace reached his present success by show ing, and this is no time to stop. m PHOTOGRAPHY By Lyle Hart <§} Specializing in Horse Show and stable photography. Both action P. 0. Box 158 and stills.
