( EDITOR ’ S NOTE - We located several interesting articles out of the past that should bring back fond memories to those who have followed the Celebration for years . Our feature is a story written by Gilly Orr in August of 1942 and published in the NASHVILLE BANNER under his famous by-line . SHELBYVILLE MENU : Horses , horses , horses — the 37 classes at the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration Horse Show at Shelbyville , September 3-4-5 , have 333 entries made by 130 exhibitors from 10 states .
The three night shows have 28 classes — 10 Thursday night , 10 Friday night and eight Saturday night . The last night , September 5 , is stake night when three championships will be decided .
Opening the show on Thursday night is the Two-Year-Old Walking Fillie Class — it has 18 entries .
