JACK MONTGOMERY STABLES
Jack Montgomery has opened his doors for several
out-of-town trainers until after the Celebration. Hoyle
Alexander has been working his stock in this stable
for quite some time, but for the last few weeks Preach
.Fleming and Shorty Thomas, both Florida trainers,
have been staying there. So — be sure to visit all of
them during the Celebration.
Jack feels that he has some great yearlings for the
Futurity and for sale this year. He’s very pleased with
the breeding season on MIDNIGHT IKE and hopes
everyone will come take a look at this fine stud dur
ing the Celebration. Jack’s still very proud of his
three-year-old mare, SHADOW’S DOLLY NELL -
I’m sure he’d like for everyone to see her, too.
BOB REED STABLES
Bob Reid has.really been winning the blue ribbons
in top competition at Middle Tennessee shows this
summer. Going into the Celebration, however, Bob
says, ''Well, we’ll just have to wait and see how we
do there.” One of the top blue-ribbon winners this
season for the Lewisburg, Tennessee stable is a four-
year-old roan mare, DELIGHT’S ANN. Bob and her
owners, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Gracy of Fayetteville, have
big expectations for the Celebration.
This is by no means the only horse that has been
bringing home the ribbons. A few of the others are:
DELIGHT’S BLACK LADY, a top two-year-old black
filly owned by John Dale Gracy, Fayetteville, has
seven blues to her credit this season; EBONY’S HIGH
SOCIETY is a three-year-old black mare owned by
Diane Martin of Fayetteville; and OVERLORD, a two-
year-old sorrel stallion, has won seven blues for Dave
Grissam of Athens, Alabama.
A black two-year-old, GO BOY’S MAGIC MOMENT,
will be shown in the Futurity for Captain E. A. Self of
Mobile, Alabama. Some others on the show docket for
Bob Reid Stables will be MASTERPIECE MAID, Jim
Beasley’s three-year-old black mare; a four-year-old
mare, ROCKET’S ROSIE, for Jerry Bradford of Nash
ville; and Dave Grissam’s three-year-old black stallion,
SPIRIT BOY.
The Bob Reid Stables issue an open invitation to
everyone to come by during the Celebration this year.
MACK MOTES STABLES
Going into the Celebration this year with his usual
good string of show stock, Mack will be showing two
for Dr. R. R. Renfrow of Fayetteville, North Carolina.
One is the World Champion mare, MISS SUN-DOWN
R., and the other is a two-year-old bay stallion, BY
GEORGE. Mack has several horses for Buford Chit
wood of Resaca, Georgia, with the best one being GO
BOY’S DEMONSTRATOR, a three-year-old black stal
lion. Young Hank Chitwood and GO BOY’S RED
ROOSTER are no strangers to the showring, and this
is another one from Mack Motes Stables.
Also on the agenda are a two-year-old and a mare
for Mrs. Dixie Phillips of Chattanooga, and EBONY
MADE OVER, a four-year-old stallion owned by Ter
