RULE CHANGES FOR 1969 CELEBRATION MAJOR ITEM OF INTEREST
The Celebration , Incorporated , recently mailed out their new 1969 Premium List and Rule Book for the coming show . As manager of the show , Sam Gibbons related specific information to the VOICE for clarification regarding the 1969 event . Several items of significance were noted and all exhibitors and trainers should acquaint themselves with these changes .
Class Changes
Open classes for Aged Horses have been split into two ( 2 ) divisions according to size . There will be three classes ( Gelding , Mare nad Stallion ) for horses under 15.2 hands and corresponding classes for horses over 15.2 hands .
Juvenile Classes have been divided into three ( 3 ) groups . These are according to the age of the rider as follows : Eleven Years and Under ; Twelve to Fourteen Years ; and Fifteen to Seventeen Years . As has been the practice in the past , the age of the individual as of January 1st of this year will be accepted as the age of the exhibitor .
Checking Horses and Equipment
In answer to questions regarding " checking horses and equipment ,” Mr . Gibbons stated : " All exhibitors must be prepared to have their horses checked at any time they are on the Celebration grounds . This includes in the stalls , the warm-up ring and the show ring . We reserve the right to inspect any horse entered at any time both prior to and during the show .” No statement was made with regard to any standard procedure on this issue . Remember also that a judge may at any time request that the boots be dropped for inspection in any class .
Equipment Changes
BOOTS — The ruling that will apply to boots at the 1969 Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration is explained as follows : Acceptable boots will be either
leather or rubber bell boots or regulation saddle horse boots with a minimum width of two ( 2 ) inches including the roll at the top . The inside of all boots must be free from loose or attached objects of any nature and must not have any sharp edges or points which touch or rub any part of the horses ’ legs or feet . The lining
of the boots must be free of any chains , ropes or other devices sewn into or onto the inside surface of the boot .
Closing Dates for Stake Class Entries
Entries for Championship Stake Classes together with entry fees for same WILL BE RECEIVED UP TO 12:00 NOON OF THE DAY BEFORE THAT ON WHICH THE CHAMPIONSHIP STAKE IS HELD .
Entries for Championship Weanling and Championship Yearling Classes will be received up to 12:00 noon on the day these classes are held .
Measuring Ponies and Horses
Walking Ponies will be measured before noon on the day their particular class will be held . Height of heels
and length of toe may be measured and rechecked prior to entering the ring when the class is called .
Animals that are measured out of the Pony Class ( those that do not qualify ) may be entered in an appropriate class if one is available remaining on the schedule . In no case will refunds be made for animals disqualified for unsoundness or by being measured out of a class originally entered .
No pony will be permitted to enter or show in any horse class and no horse will be permitted to show in any pony class .
Horses entered in the 15.2 and Under Classes will not be measured unless a protest is made .
