( Continued from page 30 )
The Amateur Class saw the debut of the muchlooked-forward-to GO BOY ’ S CHATTERBOX with Candace Williams up for the first time . It was no disappointment to Walking Horse enthusiasts as Miss Williams piloted her mount to a performance that was near the peak of perfection that we witnessed in this ring last year . She is a great rider and CHATTER BOX is a top horse . What more could one ask ? They tied first on all three cards . Reserve to this top team was MY SUNDUST SENSATION with W . T . Baynard of Baton Rouge up . Frank Parnell , riding his popular DARK MAGIC , took third place honors in this class of top contenders .
Buddy Hugh established SPECIAL DELIVERY as a definite threat to any claim to Three-Year-Old titles as they put on one of the best performances seen this year . The big chestnut SUN ' S DELIGHT stallioncame in the gate looking great and kept getting better . This horse has all the ingredients necessary to achieve stardom in this business and owner Hank Sheely hopes to see him reach the top . Reserve in this fine
class was GO BOY ' S BLACK ROOSTER , a much improved horse over last year . Carlton Pitts has done an excellent job with this fine GO BOY stud and should make even more improvement as the season goes on . Owner E . A . Self of Mobile , Alabama has high hopes for this full brother to BLACK JACK .
EBONY ’ S OLD CHARTER , the finest colt by our 1962 World Champion since EBONY ’ S OLD CROW , came on strong to win the Two-Year-Old Stallion Championship . Ridden by Richard Pate , this fine deep sorrel stud established himself as one of the truly great natural colts to come along in quite a while . Tying first on all three cards , he well deserved the applause he received from the non-partisan crowd . Reserve in this class was PERFECTION ’ S PRESIDENT , an impressive colt owned by Lloyd Wood of Tuscaloosa , Alabama and ridden by Marvin Wilson out of the Vic Thompson Stables . Third was Jimmy Waddell riding DELIGHT ’ S ROMEO , a fine stud owned by Jack Johnson of Brownsville , Tennessee .
Space will not permit the mention of all the many fine horses that tied in the top three of every class but some deserve more than casual mention . PER FECTION ’ S SHADOW S with Molly Babcock Tallent up made a fine show to win the Ladies Amateur Class . Buddy Black on GO BOY ’ S BRENDA LEE kept this fine mare in contention for junior honors in winning the Four-Year-Old Mare Class . EBONY ’ S MARCH WIND , a beautiful sorrel mare ridden by Jimmy Waddell for S . W . Beech , showed well to win the Three- Year-Old Mare Class , and Marvin Wilson also made a top show7 with DOUBLE TROUBLE to win the Two- Year-Old Gelding Class . Marvin came back to win another blue with ROCK-A-BY-LADY in the Age Mare Class for Ann Daugette .
Donald Paschal showed EBONY ’ S OLD CROW in the Age Gelding Class and was in top form to take the blue from some top geldings . One of the most talked-about horses on the show grounds was COPY ’ S RECORD , a beautiful black filly by CARBON COPY that took the blue in her first time out with Dude Crowrder up for W . H . Medlin of Raleigh , North Carolina . We are sorry to have omitted so many fine horses , but complete results and reprints of the judges ’ cards are included in this issue .
