PROGRAM CONTINUES SHELBY T. LILLY
As pari of the continuing program of national pro­
motion for the Tennessee Walking Horse, the Breeders’
Association has contracted for a series of highway
billboards (see above picture) to bring attention to
the breed and to Tennessee as the cradle of the
breed. This is a most effective part of the program as
each board will be located in a strategic position on a
major highway coming into the state. This part of the
program is designed to stimulate an awareness of the
Tennessee Walking Horse in the hopes that the gene­
ral invitation to "visit our barns and stables” will be
accepted by out-of-state people who may be interested
in horses.
The billboard is approximately thirty-five feet wide
and is red, black and yellow. The copy indicating the
World Grand Champion will be changed yearly as new
champions are crowned.
EDITORS NOTE - We would like to emphasize that
an invitation has been extended to the many thou­
sands of people coming through the State of Tennes­
see to visit our barns and stables. It is our hope that
this invitation will be effective and that those people
will find facilities and horses that will be a credit to
all of us. This is how our business grows and we hope
you will do your part to assist in this program.
The 1968 Celebration will mark the second year
that the Breeders’ Association will maintain a field
office at the show’ grounds. They have a fine little
building located near the practice ring and extend a
general invitation to drop by for a visit. There will
be office personnel and others there that will be glad
to answer your questions and assist you in any way
