TEXAS BREEDERS’ ASSOCIATION HOLDS ANNUAL MEETING The Texas Walking Horse Breeders’ Association held its annual meeting January 20 in Garland, Tex­ as. There were forty-four Walking Horse lovers who braved the rain to attend the meeting. Mr. Ray Wilson of the Texas State Fair met with the group to tell of the Fair’s continuing interest in our breed and to describe improvements on the facil­ ities at Dallas. A covered work area and more stalls are planned. Dallas will be an exhibitor’s "dream facility” when work is completed. Dr. Byron Landress reported that the 1967 Texas Walking Horse Breeders’ Futurity was a success. For information on the 1968 Futurity write Dr. J. Byron Landress, 705 Walter Reed Blvd., Garland, Texas. He will send you forms to nominate your stock. Mrs. Kenneth Walker confirmed the rumor that the Dallas Spring Show will be an all-jumper show. The Walking Horse people will now join forces with the Arabian and Saddle Horse fanciers to promote a show in Dallas around the middle of June. This will be a new show that will need the very best efforts of all exhibitors. The Association accepted the following officers for 1968: President - James G. Sears; Vice President - Ernest Pickle; Secretary - Mrs. Lawrence L. Bush, Jr.; Board of Directors - John Sharp, Dr. Boise Dixson, Glen Loe, and A. C. McKinney. The Association presents high point awards each year to honor members who have worked hard to make the shows successful. This year the highest number of points were earned in the Ladies’ and Men’s Amateur Classes.
