HEART O ' DIXIE FIRST ANNUAL AWARDS BANQUET
Some sixty people braved rain and cold to attend the first Annual Awards Banquet of the Heart 0 Dixie Walking Horse Association at the Percy E . Quinn State Park Lodge east of Magnolia , Mississippi .
The affair , which is to be an annual event , was the culmination of work done in the Deep South on behalf
of the Tennessee Walking Horse . Points accrued in the thirteen affiliated , promotional ,
and co-sponsored shows had been tallied and participants of the system eagerly awaited the results . Awards were presented in some eighteen categories .
President Charles Magee did a most commendable job as Master of Ceremonies and began the program by giving a resume of accomplishments completed by the very active group . First on the list of winners wras the Two-Year-Old Filly Champion , MELODY ' S GO BOY , owned and exhibited by S . W . Grantham of Seminary , Miss . The Two-Year-Old Stallion Champion was SUN ’ S MERRY RAIDER , owned by A . T . Leggett , Jr . of Magnolia , Miss , and exhibited by Reid Estess , Jr . of Kentwood , La . In the three-year-old division , GOLD SUN ’ S MER­ RY GIRL , owned and exhibited by R . E . Broome of Florence , Miss ., was the top mare . TheThree-Year-Old Stallion Champion was PIN-UP ’ S MACK K , owned and exhibited by G . G . Breeland of Tylertown , Miss .
The Four-Year-Old Stallion Champion was GO BOY ’ S MERRY ACE , owned and exhibited by J . C . Brooks of McComb , Miss .
