1968-Voice Of The Tennessee Walking Horse 1968 December Voice | Page 21

the Wise Stables since the 1966 season and the com ing year will see the first major crop of colts sired by him in competition . As these two-year-olds hit the showring it will be interesting to see if he can produce more outstanding colts such as TRIPLE THREAT AGAIN , whose dam was bred to TRIPLE THREAT in 1962 .
Mr . Koenig and his daughter , Ellen Metzger , have recently placed several outstanding coming-two colts by TRIPLE THREAT in training at some Tennessee stables . As spring comes we should see some of these young horses come to the top as leading contenders .
It is not known at this time whether or not TRIPLE THREAT will return to the Harold Wise Stables to stand the 1969 season . In the past three seasons he has been a popular breeding horse and all indications are that , wherever he stands , there will be a following of TRIPLE THREAT admirers who believe in the " natural lick ” and want to pass this quality on to their own colts .
TRIPLE THREAT AGAIN will be an age stallion in 1969 and after a few months in Florida he will be ready to hit the showring again . We do not know who will be training him for competition next season but he will be a contender . More about this later .
JOHN T . CARTER STABLES
Now that show season is over , most trainers have had time to evaluate the calibre of stock that they are starting for two-year-old competition next year . John T . Carter tells us that he has three prospects that are about as good as any that he has ever " throwed a laig over .” Particularly outstanding is a big black colt by MIDNIGHT BEAU that was started by Steve Hankins up in Tazewell , Virginia . Named BEAU ’ S BIG TALK , he has all the prospects of be coming a real " big-time ” horse . Another fine young horse is SOUTHERN SUN , a black colt by SUN ’ S DE LIGHT out of a HANDSHAKER mare . He is coming along very well with a late start . BAY DELIGHT , a natural-going young stud by SUN ’ S DELIGHT , is the talk of the Fray Escues these days . Fray usually has " the pick of the litter ” and he sure does like this colt . The MIDNIGHT BEAU colt looks like a " syndicate ” horse with Piercy , Waggoner , The Terry Brothers and H . B . Hauk all on his papers as owners . We will check in the spring and see what this " stock ” is worth . A lot , I ’ ll bet !

DOUG WOLAVER STABLES
The " quiet man ” from Cornersville , Tennessee tells us that there has been some big business over his way . We hear that the fine three-year-old stallion that Doug showed this year was recently sold to Dr . C . L . Sexton and has been moved to Donald Paschal ’ s . Named HANDSHAKER ’ S DELIGHT , this horse at tracted a lot of attention in the early part of the year when Mr . Louis Sloan showed him in Searcy , Arkansas for Clyde Frey of Crocker , Missouri . We talked to both owner and trainer that night about the prospects of the horse and , the next thing we knew , he was at Doug Wolaver ’ s . He was later sold to Mr . Frank Par nell of Newbern , Tennessee . He tied fifth in the Class and third in the Stake at the Celebration under the ownership of Mr . Brad Speight of Jackson , Tennessee , who reportedly sold him to Mr . Parnell .
