BREEDING HENGEN-LENOX SfSLES

CARBON COPY COLT SALE GETS NEW HOME
As the Celebration approaches , a lot of interest is focused on the various sales that are held during the - day period which ends September 7 . The newest major -ale will feature two big changes ; namely , a change of ownership and a new sales pavilion . The CARBON COPY Colt Sale is now the joint venture of Mr . E . Carl Hengen of Gainesville , Virginia and Mr . George L . Lenox of Collierville , Tennessee . These two Walking Horse enthusiasts formed a company early this year that involves their breeding program as well as a sales program . The GLL Farms of Collierville now boasts two World ' s Grand Champions at stud - B . MAJOR WILSON , the 1961 Grand Champion ; and CARBON COPY , the 1965 Grand Champion . The new sales pavilion is being completed on the Hengen-Lenox Farm , on the Levvisburg Highway just west of Shelbyville , where the first sale of CARBON COPY colts was held last year . The farm has over
160 acres and provides an excellent opportunity for a major sales operation . The new pavilion has thirtysix box stalls for the horses going through the sale and the whole facility is completely under one roof . The hall is approximately thirty feet wide and one hundred fifty feet long , with permanent bleacher-type seats going the whole length of the pavilion . A large auctioneer ’ s stand is in the middle on the west side and all arrangements have been made to make handling of papers and pedigrees as easy as possible . An excellent sound system has been installed to facilitate all-round listening without too much volume in some areas . Auctioneer Eddie Bryant and his staff of experienced ringmen will be on hand as the sale gets underway at 10:00 AM Saturday , September 7 , to keep things moving . If the sale tops last year ’ s average of S2,000 per horse , they will have done a good day ’ s work . There will be twenty-two select CARBON COPY colts to go through the sale plus several show horses and some top brood mares . All indications are that interest is high and a lot of people are coming from far and near to be a part of this sale . It should be a good one !
CEDARTOWN SHOW OPENED WITH THOUGHT-PROVOKING INVOCATION
At the 1968 Cedartown , Georgia Optimist Club
Horse Show , the following invocation was delivered by Mr . Jim Winn . It was so appropriate that we wanted
to share it with you . " Our Father , thank you for the sheer fun , the exhilirating excitement of the moment , sparked by this
tremendous event so true to the traditions of our land , America . The beauty and grace of the animals honor
The Creative Hand that shaped them ; the ability and
showmanship of the riders symbolize our desire to achieve that perfection that is in Thee ; the skill and
patience of the trainers remind us of Thy untiring willingness to work with us toward attaining the goals of life which Thou hast set ; and the competence of the Judges points us to the fact that we are living under
Thy unerring judgements in the daily competition of life .
■ ' Bless , we pray Thee , the Cedartown Optimist Club and everyone who has shared in making this event a reality in our community ; and help us all to make the most of this moment , and every moment of life , that we might be prepared to accept the prize of the high calling which is in Christ Jesus . Amen .”
